Performance Description
Old Man Flanagan's Ghost knows Celtic music and is exciting to both watch and listen to! They feature a dynamic fiddle performance with Bexy Ashworth and Liam McGlashon, the talented multi-instrumentalist/luthier Matti Palonen on tin whistle and double-bass, Scot Allan on bodhrán, and Stephen Lamb on guitar and lead vocals. Best described as ‘engaging Celtic folk/rock’, they combine the sound of traditional folk instruments with a passionate intensity during fiddle tunes and sing-a-long pub rousers, and when the mood shifts to folk-style story-telling songs, the haunting melodies and warm vocals created by these musicians would ‘bring a tear to a glass-eye’. With their rendition of classic Celtic and east coast covers, traditional fiddle tunes, and a variety of original tunes, they often invite the audience to participate in a fun, energetic stage show that can be enjoyed by all. Imagine the smell of the sea, cold pints of beer, old shipwrecks, stories of love and loss, and boisterous friends sharing a laugh and a song. Now mix it with an instrumentation that takes you on a journey east, and a feeling of being welcomed into your neighbour’s home for a kitchen party, THAT is the essence of Old Man Flanagan’s Ghost.
"The quintet’s vocalist and front man Steve Lamb is the real deal, inviting and inspiring listeners to explore their rich musical and lyrical heritage with a voice that is both homespun and heartfelt. Fans of the Clancy Brothers, the Dubliners, the Irish Rovers and the Kingston Trio will want to wrap their ears around this one."

"The amazing fiddle performances are a show highlight. There's a lot of talent and high energy in this group of musicians. The show was excellent, with a mix of old traditional Scottish and Irish Ballads and new songs, some written by Steve Lamb. Lamb's rich, low voice is a lot like Paddy Reilly, one of Ireland's most beloved and famous balladeers."
